There is a comprehensively equipped laboratory based at the Mandeville Hospital which provides a reliable and highly efficient service for our clients. Routine test samples do not need to be sent away but can readily be analysed on site so providing a speedy diagnosis for many cases.
Mandeville Veterinary Hospital has 2 fully equipped sterile operating theatres staffed by highly skilled vets and supported by highly trained veterinary nurses. We only use the safest anaesthetic agents and we ensure thorough cleanliness throughout the surgical areas with routine MRSA swabs. The hospital is very well equipped and able to deal with the vast majority of surgical (both orthopaedic and soft tissue) and medical cases without having to refer patients to external centres. We have excellent diagnostic facilities including endoscopes, an ultra-sound suite and a new radiography unit. The on-site, extensively equipped laboratory with our in-house team of technicians ensures there is no delay when test results are urgently required. In-patient stress is minimised in our comfortable separate dog and cat wards. Dogs can also have supervised access to a large grassed exercise area in a garden setting within the practice premises.
Sally sees referral patients at Mandeville Veterinary Hospital on Wednesdays and alternate Thursdays. All equipment for routine ophthalmic consultations and investigations is available e.g. ocular ultrasonography, electroretinography. Sally has an operating microscope on site, so all routine surgeries can be performed – although patients which require cataract surgery undergo their operation at Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital where the phacoemulsifcation machine is located (dedicated equipment for cataract removal). In many cases patients requiring ocular surgery will have this performed the same day as the consultation, although in some cases treatment or further investigations are required, in which case surgery is arranged for a mutually convenient time. Sally also undertakes a limited number of eye tests under the BVA/KC/ISDS scheme at Mandeville (see eye test page).
