Eye Tests

Sally provides an eye test service under the BVA/KC/ISDS Health Schemes. Appointments are available at the following clinics:

Mandeville Veterinary Hospital

Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital

Heathfield Vets (usually the last Thursday of the month)

Appointments can be booked directly with the clinic. Routine eye tests require eye drops to be placed to dilate the pupils prior to examination. It takes about 20 minutes for the eye drops to take effect and then Sally can perform the eye test. Some breeds require gonioscopy as well which is performed prior to the routine test (should both be necessary). It is essential that the correct paperwork is provided for the eye test – the Kennel Club Owner/Breeder Certificate (note that this is not the same as the pedigree) together with any previous eye test certificates. Failure to present the correct documentation means that the results and eye certificate must be withheld until the correct documents are sent on to Sally. It is much easier to bring all paperwork relating to the dog if you are unsure of exactly what is required. Remember that all dogs must have permanent identification (microchip or tattoo) for the eye test to be performed.

Please note that spaces for eye tests are strictly limited and early booking is therefore recommended.
